ROOM DIVISIONS:

Baby Bunnies 0-8 months (birth to crawling)

Lovely Ladybugs 8-16 months (crawling to walking steadily)

Busy Bees 17-30 months (walking steady to promotion to the Friendly Frogs)

Friendly Frogs & Catepillars 30 months to 3 years

Butterflies 4 years before October 1

Classroom assignments are based on the public school year.


REGISTRATION:
  • Upon enrollment of the program, each child must have a registration card completed and kept on file.
  • A security tag is to be completed and placed on your child upon entering the classroom.
  • Complete your child information-security number, parental location, and extra information-on the classroom roster located on the counter in each room.
  • Keep your portion of the security name tag so that you will remember your child's number.
note: your portion must be shown in order for the volunteers to release your child


STAFFING:
  • Gardeners should be recognized by their vbcc name tags
  • If Gardeners are limited, the co-op program will go into effect-thus volunteering the parents of enrolled children to give of their time.
  • The designated teacher/student ratio may not be exceeded. When the ratio has been met, the class will be closed.
  • The early Childhood Program reserves the right to call parents out of Worship Service and/or Sunday School class if they are low on help.

DISCIPLINE:The following disciplinary guidelines will be followed:
  • Positive Verbal Encouragement and/or Redirection to encourage positive behavior.
  • A brief time-out period may be used, allowing the child to think about the appropriate behavior.
  • If undesirable behavior continues, the child's security number may be flashed, requiring the child to be removed from class early.

HEALTH POLICY
The health and well being of your child is of great importance to us. Therefore, we ask that you keep your child home any time he/she exhibits the following symptoms:
  • Fever (within the past 24 hours)
  • Green/yellow runny nose
  • Excessive coughing
  • diarrhea
  • vomiting
  • questionable rash
  • skin infection
  • pink-eye (conjunctivitus)
  • any communicable disease

SECURITY
Each child is issued a security number when they check in at the classroom counter. Your child's number willl be posted on the black box in front of the chapel if you are needed in your child's class. A prompt response is appreciated. The security number must be shown and returned when picking up your child.


HELPFUL HINTS
  • label all diaper bags and personal belongings clearly
  • bring adequeate supplies(i.e. diapers, sippy cups, wipes, etc.)
  • limit food to snacks-bottles, Cheerios or other small foods are fine
  • leave personal toys or items at home(Security blankets or other items are acceptable for younger children
  • try to remain outside of the gated area when dropping off/picking up your child. Once an adult walks through the gates into the rooms, they are offering their services
  • note that nursing moms may nurse in the Bunnies Room which is for mothers only
  • remeber that children must be supervised at all times in the nursery/preschool rooms. These rooms are only to be used when approved by Chapel staff
  • note that toddlers and older preschoolers will be served a snack
  • know that our classrooms are staffed with volunteers who give of their time to share their love
