DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

- What experience have you once savored for a moment, but that later turned sour?

- What is the angel like that announces the coming of the 7th trumpet? What does he do?   say?  Who is this unidentified messenger? (Gen 18:1-2;  Matt 17:2;  Rev 1:5)

- Why do you think John repeats three times "his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land?"  (v 2, 5, 8)

- In what ways does this mighty messenger from God differ from other angels found in Scripture?

- Why might John be forbidden to record the words of the seven thunders?  (see 2 Cor 12:4)

- What is the "mystery of God" in v7 (Deut 29:29; Rom 11:25-36; 16:25-27)

- What happens to the "small scroll?"

- How can a revelation from God be both sweet and bitter?  How has God's Word been both to you?

- What is God's mighty messenger demand of  John?  Of you?

Revelation is Mysterious

Revelation is Meaningful

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Who is the author of Rev?  What do you know about him?

Since John was with Jesus three years, why would he fall at his feet now (v17)?

What is revealed about Jesus?  Why does God want Jesus know as "Word," "Alpha & Omega," and other titles?

Close your eyes while a member reads 1:12-18.  What is an encounter with the resurrected Jesus like?

What is this book all about?

After hearing Pastor Rich's sermon, in what ways is the book of Revelation: misunderstood, messianic, mysterious and meaningful?

In what ways do you anticipate an encounter with the resurrected Jesus?

MISSIONAL TREASURE HUNT

Jesus has placed us here, and he stands in our midst.

We are the lampstand in our city.

- Identify your ‘city’ – an area of focus for your group over the next 8 weeks.  This is likely the neighborhood of the home you most often meet in.  Draw a map of your city’s streets, natural boundaries, etc.

- This is your ‘missional map’.  We will fill it in a little each week.

- Map your regular places (homes, schools, frequented stores, etc)

- Who is in your neighborhood? Name and map as many people as you can by name.

NEXT WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

“To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat

from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” Rev 2:7b

It is introducing powerful messenger to engage with the revelation to write for college essays. Then we could manage all their chapel assignments and essay books for all of them.
