DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

- As you approach the subject of God's wrath, what thoughts and feelings do you have? Have you ever been on the receiving end of terrible injustice or evil? How did it feel?

- Read Rev 6. Summarize the events of the first six seals. How does the scene in Chpt 6 differ from the scene in Chpt 5? What do you think John is communicating by placing these chapters side-by-side?

- How do you respond to the fact that all this is happening at the permission of God ("was given" vs 4, 8, 11)?

- How does the experience of the saints (vs 9-11) contrast with that of the unbelievers (vs 15-17) as they anticipate the impending wrath of God?

- The "wrath of the Lamb" is a deliberate paradox. Why is the Lamb the only one worthy to break these seals and unleash this havoc on the earth?

- How should the impending wrath of God affect our attitude toward personal sin? Toward systemic injustice? Toward unbelievers? Pray for non-Christians you know, that they would come to know the love of the Lord.

Revelation is Mysterious

Revelation is Meaningful

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Who is the author of Rev?  What do you know about him?

Since John was with Jesus three years, why would he fall at his feet now (v17)?

What is revealed about Jesus?  Why does God want Jesus know as "Word," "Alpha & Omega," and other titles?

Close your eyes while a member reads 1:12-18.  What is an encounter with the resurrected Jesus like?

What is this book all about?

After hearing Pastor Rich's sermon, in what ways is the book of Revelation: misunderstood, messianic, mysterious and meaningful?

In what ways do you anticipate an encounter with the resurrected Jesus?

MISSIONAL TREASURE HUNT

Jesus has placed us here, and he stands in our midst.

We are the lampstand in our city.

- Identify your ‘city’ – an area of focus for your group over the next 8 weeks.  This is likely the neighborhood of the home you most often meet in.  Draw a map of your city’s streets, natural boundaries, etc.

- This is your ‘missional map’.  We will fill it in a little each week.

- Map your regular places (homes, schools, frequented stores, etc)

- Who is in your neighborhood? Name and map as many people as you can by name.

NEXT WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

“To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat

from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” Rev 2:7b
